Dedicated to the Highest Quality Care
The Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium is home to more than 4,000 animals—mammals, reptiles, birds, amphibians, fishes, and invertebrates—all of whom require clinical and preventive care. Treating a collection as large and valuable as that of the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium is an enormous undertaking.
It is our mission is to provide state-of-the-art veterinary care to the animals at the Zoo, and, working with our conservation research department, to become leaders in the field of animal health, both in captivity and the wild.
To this end, the Zoo's health care team works with specialists, surgeons, dentists, and other health care professionals to meet all the needs of the animals in the Zoo's collection and participate in conservation efforts around the world.
